President's Message: April 2016

It is that time of the year and VASA board elections are here! You should have received an election ballot indicating nominees for VASA board vacancies. As president, I would like to briefly explain the election process to facilitate your participation.

As you know, VASA is the only multidisciplinary organization representing the field of vascular access in the Americas. The success of this organization lies in fostering multidisciplinary aspects of the field. Since inception, we have thrived hard to maintain a good balance of representatives from all areas of the discipline. This was a simpler task when the board was appointed via a nomination process. It is a much larger field now with an election process seeking ballots from the membership. The nominating committee has done an excellent job of choosing members from specialties involved with vascular access. Each candidate has a bibliography and personal statement available on the web site that can be easily viewed using the link

I request you to review the list of nominees and cast your valuable ballot making a conscious attempt to help us maintain sub-specialty diversity on the Board of Directors that govern VASA. We are voting in six candidates. Election results will be announced during the general body meeting at the biennial symposium in Chicago on May 13th.

I sincerely thank you for your participation in this election.

I look forward to seeing you soon in Chicago at what promises to be a wonderful meeting! The Organizing Committee has worked very hard to put together an excellent agenda.
