2026 Symposium Abstract Submission
The Vascular Access Society of the Americas invites you to participate as an exhibitor at the 2026 Vascular Access for Hemodialysis Symposium, May 20-22, 2026 at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This Symposium is designed for all transplant, vascular and general surgeons, nephrologists, interventional radiologists and nephrologists, nurses and allied health professionals who are interested in the management of vascular access. The VASA Symposium is an excellent opportunity for your company to showcase its products and services to a multidisciplinary audience committed to advancing dialysis patient care.
The Program Committee is busy planning an excellent scientific meeting that will include:
- State-of-the-art lectures covering all major areas in dialysis access
- Diverse multi-disciplinary faculty including prominent international
- speakers representing Europe, Asia, Canada, South America, & Japan
- 40 scientific abstract presentations
- Vascular access nursing and allied health
- New devices and technologies
- Video presentations
Instructions for Abstract Submission
Read the following guidelines completely before you submit an abstract:
- Submission deadline is February 20, 2026. No abstracts will be accepted after the deadline.
- Your abstract title cannot exceed 120 characters and your abstract narrative cannot exceed 5000 characters.
- Avoid the use of any symbols, special characters, or graphics within the abstract text.
- Provide a forum for stimulating discussion regarding practice changes or improvements based on
- these studies and initiatives.
Other Information:
- Accepted abstracts will be required to submit the following information for each co-author (First name, Last name, Email address, and Phone number). It is vital for the e-mail address to be current and accurate since all communication with VASA will be delivered via e-mail.
- Accepted Oral* and Poster Abstract presentation first authors must register for the conference. If the first author is unable to attend the conference, one of the other listed authors may present the poster.
- Expenses associated with the preparation, printing, delivery, and presentation of a poster abstract is the responsibility of the author/presenter. If accepted, the presenter is required to pay all fees associated with the meeting including, but not limited to, travel, housing accommodations, meeting registration, etc.
Abstract Review/Selection Criteria
Abstracts are selected by a blind review based on the following:
- All components are complete and in the correct format.
- Abstracts are scored on the scope and significance of the practice problem, the purpose, synthesis of findings from the literature, the implementation of the project, the evaluation plan including measurement, outcomes, and implications for nursing science, patient outcomes, practice, education, leadership, and/or policy-making.
Notification of Acceptance
- Notification of selections will be emailed to all abstract authors in early March 2026
- Authors must RSVP acceptance to present at the conference by the prescribed due date in the notification email.
Eligibility & Content Requirements
Abstracts must represent original work and may not have been previously published in a journal or presented at another conference. Submissions must describe completed projects or studies and include outcomes and results; incomplete work will not be considered.
Abstracts should address topics relevant to vascular access for hemodialysis and be designed to stimulate discussion and highlight potential practice changes or improvements in care, including:
- Clinical practice
- Innovation
- Patient outcomes
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Educational efforts
Formatting Requirements
- Abstract Length: Maximum of 5,000 characters.
- Authorship & Presentation
- Authors: Up to three additional authors may be listed on the printed abstract.
- Presenter Responsibilities: The presenting author (or a designated co-author if the first author cannot attend) must be able to attend the meeting if the abstract is accepted.
Please note: Registration & Expenses: Presenters are responsible for all costs associated with
participation, including registration, travel, lodging, and poster preparation (if applicable).
Abstract Review and Selection
All abstracts are evaluated through a blinded peer-review process based on:
- Completeness and adherence to submission guidelines
- Significance and relevance of the clinical or practice problem
- Clarity of purpose and methodology
- Quality of implementation and evaluation
- Outcomes and implications for patient care, clinical practice, education, leadership, and policy
Notification of Acceptance
- Authors will be notified of acceptance via email.
- Accepted authors must confirm their intent to present by the deadline specified in the notification.
- Accurate and current email contact information for all authors is required, as all correspondence will be conducted electronically.
